Fighting Words: A Tale of How Liberals Created Neo-Conservatism

AEI senior fellow Ben J. Wattenberg is a Washington icon and iconoclast. From his start as a speechwriter for President Lyndon B. Johnson, Wattenberg has become one of Washington’s preeminent pundits and prognosticators.  He has done battle in political and policy circles for nearly forty years. He has been a bestselling author, a path-breaking demographic analyst, a nationally syndicated columnist, a think tank scholar, and host of the PBS television show Think Tank. In his latest book, Fighting Words: A Tale of How Liberals Created Neo-Conservatism, Wattenberg chronicles his own political and intellectual journey and examines how it has mirrored the country’s evolving psyche.

On Thursday, July 10, Wattenberg will discuss his new book at AEI. AEI resident fellow Michael Barone and the Brookings Institution’s E. J. Dionne will comment.
