To make sure that your system is ready to view AEI webcasts, please test your computer now. This will ensure that you have the correct system requirements to play the webcast. If you can play the "Test" Video in the system tester using Microsoft Windows Media Player, then you are ready for the webcast.
If you are unable to play the "Test" video, please be sure your computer has the proper hardware requirements. Windows users please consult the Windows system requirements below. Mac users, please read the Mac system requirements below. If you are still unable to play the webcast, follow the Troubleshooting Tips at the bottom of this page.
You must have the following hardware components in order to participate in the webcast.
COMPUTER: Pentium II 300MHz with 64MB RAM or better.
INTERNET CONNECTION: A 56Kbps or better Internet connection
SOUND: 16-bit sound card and speakers
DISPLAY: A VGA display set to a screen area of 800 x 600 pixels or higher and 16 bits of color or higher.
Versions supported: Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP or NT 4.0 Service Pack 6.
Web Browser: You must have either Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 5.5 or later) or Netscape Navigator (version 4.79 or version 7.1) installed on your computer with Java and Javascript enabled. If you have a web browser installed on your computer and you are are unsure, test now to determine if Java and Javascript are enabled.
Microsoft Windows Media Player: You must also have Windows Media Player (version 6.4 or later) installed on your computer as well. You can check to make sure you have Windows Media player installed by going to the test link above.
If you do not have Windows Media Player installed on your computer, you will need to download and install the player. This will only take a few minutes and software for this player is free. The link to the software is below:

Please note that the version of your Windows operating system determines which version of the media player that you must have installed on your computer. Windows 95 and Windows NT must use Windows Media Player version 6.4. Windows 98 users must use Windows Media Player version 7.1. Windows 98 SE, ME and 2000 users use Windows Media Player 9 Series (for Windows 98 SE, Me, and 2000). Windows XP users may use Windows Media Player 9 Series (for Windows XP) or Windows Media Player 10.
If you have the requirements listed above, then you are ready to view the webcast. If you are having problems, please contact your system administrator for help.

MAC Users Please Note: MAC OSX users may not be able to watch some webcasts due to limitations of Windows Media Player 9 for MAC OSX. In addition, due to limitations of both versions of the MAC operating system, users must manually advance slides using the "Prev" and "Next" buttons in the webcast player.
If you are having trouble with the webcast, follow the steps below:
1. Test your system - please test your system to make sure your computer is configured properly to view this webcast. If you are able to play the Windows Media "Test" Video, your system is ready. If you are unable to play the test video, continue to follow the test tips below until you can successfully play the test video.
2. Install ACELP.net audio codec - if you have recently installed Windows Media Player versions 9, 10 or later, you may need to install the ACELP.net audio codec on your computer. Download the ACELP.net audio codec now.

3. Can you play webcasts from another source? - try playing a webcast from another source
A good option is the public affairs web site, C-SPAN.

If you can play video from C-SPAN and you still cannot watch the Webcast, please try the Webcast again later.
4. Webcasts and Firewalls - some firewalls block access to webcasts. You can change the delivery protocol in your Windows Media Player to HTTP to avoid firewall problems. To change the transfer protocol to HTTP follow these steps: Start => All Programs => Accessories => Entertainment => Select Windows Media Player. In Windows Media Player: Select the "Tools" menu => "Options" => Select the "Network" tab. Deselect Multicast, UDP, TCP. Leave HTTP selected. Select OK and close Windows Media Player. NOTE: In order to receive webcasts using these deselected protocols you will have to reselect them. The steps to change the delivery protocol may vary based on the version of the Windows Media Player.
5. Still Having Trouble - if you still cannot play the webcast after these steps, please contact your system administrator for further troublshooting support.
