This book discusses monetary policy and the global economy. A companion volume by the same authors is Monetary Policy for a Changing Financial Environment.
Trade imbalances, international capital flows, a single European currency, price stickiness, the volatility of the dollar--international monetary issues have an increasing impact on national economies. This volume focuses on the crucial relationships between domestic and international economic developments and on their implications for monetary, fiscal, and exchange rate policies.
William Haraf, vice president for policy analysis at Citicorp, was J. Edward Lundy Visiting Scholar and director of the financial markets project at AEI. Thomas Willett, AEI adjunct scholar, is director of the Claremont Center for Economic Policy Studies and chairman of the graduate faculty in economics at Claremont College.
