InOn Two Wings: Humble Faith and Common Sense at the American Founding(Encounter Books, 2001), author Michael Novak explores these two influences that propelled the founding. Not only was the American tradition influenced by the faith of the founders, he writes, but even the philosophy of the Enlightenment was placed in a religious context.
