About This Event

A veteran legislator, advocate for democracy, and key political adviser to Taiwan president Chen Shui-bian, first lady Chen Wu Sue-Jen will visit Washington for the first time since becoming first lady of the Republic of China. Over the past two decades, Madame Chen and her husband have overcome numerous adversities together in their path toward democracy. Madame Chen will share her experiences on Taiwan's journey from autocracy to democracy.
