About This Event

After the completion of the 2000 presidential race, Americans were left with many questions concerning the Electoral College. How are disputed presidential elections resolved? Why do we have an electoral college? Is the Electoral College still necessary? The latest edition of After the People Vote: A Guide to the Electoral College (AEI Press, August 2004) answers these and other questions surrounding America’s unique, and often misunderstood, electoral process. Yale Law School professor Akhil Reed Amar will join the book’s past and present editors, AEI’s Walter Berns and John C. Fortier, in debating the merits of the Electoral College.
