The Right Honorable, the Lord Lawson of Blaby was a member of the Economic Affairs Committee of the House of Lords that produced the report “The Economics of Climate Change.” He is an internationally esteemed economist and renowned statesman. Lord Lawson of Blaby was appointed the chancellor of exchequer in 1983 and held the post for six years. During his political career, he reshaped Britain’s fiscal and economic policies, acting as a key proponent of the Thatcher government's privatization policy. Prior to his appointment as chancellor, he served as secretary of state for energy and financial secretary to the treasury. He is currently chairman of the Central Europe Trust and president of the British Institute of Energy Economics.
David Henderson is currently a visiting professor at the Westminster Business School in London. He was formerly the chief economist in the Economics and Statistics Department of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) from 1984 to 1992. Before the OECD, he held senior positions at the World Bank and in the British government, working in the HM Treasury and the Department of Aviation. Mr. Henderson has taught economics at Oxford University and worked as an independent author and consultant. His most recent publication, Misguided Virtue, critiques current notions of corporate social responsibility.
Lee Lane has been executive director of the Climate Policy Center (CPC) since 2000. Mr. Lane has been a leading advocate of cost-effective climate policy proposals in emission controls, energy research, and the search for effective international agreements on climate change. Prior to directing the CPC, he spent 20 years in senior executive positions in the trade and corporate sectors, acting as vice president of CSX Corporation and as founder and president of Policy Services, Inc. Recently, he published “A New Paradigm for U.S. Climate Policy,” which appeared as a chapter in the book Climate Policy for the 21st Century: Meeting the Long-term Challenges of Global Warming.
Steve Hayward is the F. K. Weyerhaeuser Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute where he studies the environment, law, political economy, and the presidency. He is author of AEI's Environmental Policy Outlook and the annual Index of Leading Environmental Indicators, published jointly by AEI and the Pacific Research Institute. Hayward recently authored The Age of Reagan: The Fall of the Old Liberal Order, 1964-1980 and his latest book, Greatness: Reagan, Churchill, and the Making of Extraordinary Leaders, was just released Tuesday.
