Pakistan faces significant challenges as it steps back into the community of democratic nations. Pakistan's cooperation with the United States in the fight against terrorism and Islamic extremism has caused problems at home. Tensions with India remain high, and Pakistan continues to risk U.S. sanctions with its nuclear and missile programs.

On his first visit to the U.S., Pakistan's new foreign minister, Kursheed Kasuri, will review the challenges in Pakistan, internal security concerns, the war on terror, and the future of U.S.-Pakistan relations.

10:15 a.m. Registration
10:30 Introduction: Jeane J. Kirkpatrick, AEI
Remarks: Kursheed Kasuri, foreign minister of Pakistan
11:45 Adjournment
