Wohlstetter Conference Center, Twelfth Floor, AEI 1150 Seventeenth Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036 Directions to AEI
The perception of many, especially in the wake of never-ending corporate scandals, is that financial markets are parasitic institutions. Saving Capitalism from the Capitalists: Unleashing the Power of Financial Markets to Create Wealth and Spread Opportunity (Crown Business, February 2003) argues that the reality is far different. Vibrant financial markets threaten the sclerotic corporate establishment and increase corporate mobility and opportunity. They enhance personal freedom and economic development, reach across borders to promote competition, and check the power of political and economic elites the world over. Raghuram Rajan and Luigi Zingales will present a summary of their book’s thesis, and a panel of experts will offer comments and criticisms.
