Iraqis Take Control
Start:  Tuesday, June 29, 2004  10:00 AM
End:  Tuesday, June 29, 2004  12:00 PM
Location:  Wohlstetter Conference Center, Twelfth Floor, AEI
1150 Seventeenth Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20036
Directions to AEI

The June 30th transfer of sovereignty may have happened early, but the challenges for the new interim Iraqi government have not diminished. How will elections be structured? Who will determine security imperatives? What will be the relationship with United States forces serving in Iraq? Will Iraq be yet another Arab state operating under a "state of emergency?" And finally, how will a liberated Iraq achieve the peace and prosperity the Iraqi people expect?

AEI will host Iraqi ambassador-designate Rend Rahim to speak on the future of Iraq as a Middle Eastern democracy. She will be joined by a panel of AEI experts.
