The Supreme Court heard oral arguments on January 8, 1997 regarding the constitutionality of state laws in Washington and New York that forbid one person from aiding in the suicide of another. On the day before the hearing, AEI hosted a forum to discuss the practice of assisted suicide and whether it should be legal. The forum was moderated by AEI Senior Fellow Ben Wattenberg and sponsored by Amgen, Inc.
