| The Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001 was the most significant tax cut in twenty years. It features reductions in marginal income tax rates and an eventual repeal of the estate tax. Last month Congress passed and the president signed a three-year accelerated depreciation provision to encourage business investment. However, some critics of lower taxes argue that many of the tax cuts should be repealed or delayed, while others favor making the tax cuts permanent. At this breakfast our participants will discuss the near-term and long-term outlook for U.S. tax policy. |
