AEI's second annual Earth Day panel will review environmental trends and conditions in the United States. The panel will mark the formal release of the eighth edition of the Index of Leading Environmental Indicators by F. K. Weyerhaeuser Fellow Steven F. Hayward. The Index of Leading Environmental Indicators examines government data on trends, most of which show consistent improvement in environmental quality in the U.S. This year’s edition reviews new data about the conditions of America’s forestlands.

This event will also preview a forthcoming AEI study by Adjunct Fellow Joel Schwartz. In No Way Back, Schwartz presents a detailed examination of air quality trends and explains why further reductions in smog are on the way.
