| The debate surrounding the prospects for democratization in the Arab world has taken on a much greater sense of urgency as the likelihood of regime change in Iraq increases. Is democracy really possible for the Middle East? Is it desirable? And how is it compatible with Islam? Dr. Shafeeq Ghabra, professor of political science and the director of the Center for Strategic and Future Studies at Kuwait University, will address the question of democracy for the Arab world. |
