Arthur Herman, author of the New York Times bestseller How the Scots Invented the Modern World, discusses his new book Gandhi and Churchill: The Epic Rivalry That Destroyed an Empire and Forged Our Age.

Dr. Herman will discuss the forty-year rivalry between these two political icons, and reveal how it led inevitably to the British exit from India.  He will also show how the humanitarian catastrophe of partition and ethnic cleansing in post-independence India and Pakistan offer powerful lessons for American policy in Iraq and Afghanistan.
