Jobs Numbers: AEI Expert on What to Expect

"I expect the employment increases of the past few months to be sustained in March, with the economy adding more than 240,000 jobs. It will be interesting to see if the U6 rate shows a significant decline suggesting that more discouraged workers are re-entering the labor market and finding jobs."

American Enterprise Institute (AEI) economist Aparna Mathur, author of a recent popular piece on tracking the unreported unemployment rate, is one of the AEI economists available to comment on tomorrow’s jobs numbers.   • Aparna Mathur is an economist who writes about taxes and wages. She has been a consultant to the World Bank and has taught economics at the University of Maryland. Her work ranges from research on carbon taxes and the impact of state health insurance mandates on small firms to labor market outcomes.
