Could Cigars Cost Pres. Obama Florida?

In a just-published piece, American Enterprise Institute (AEI) scholar Scott Gottlieb, MD explains how the rumored Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation that would ban the sale of cigars through mail-order clubs and maybe even humidors could hurt President Obama’s changes of winning cigar-friendly Florida.

"The administration may decide it’s politically wise to table its regulation until after the November election, rather than risk a backlash. But the president's regulators have already shown their cards. It's a team that's been too easily seduced by fashionable distractions, and will cause a lot of jobs to needlessly go up in smoke"

Scott Gottlieb is a practicing physician and resident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute. He was deputy commissioner of the FDA and a senior adviser at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. He is available for interviews and can be reached at scott.gottlieb@aei.org.
