The problem with the higher taxes/bigger government question is that it doesn’t define how much higher and who will pay them. Also, no two people have the same notion about just what “government” is. To the elderly, it is Social Security and Medicare; to Conservatives, the military; to the oil industry, the regulatory state; to environmentalists, the regulatory state. Depending on who you are and your point of view, more government can be a feature or a bug.

The basis of these thoughts lies in the same conceit expressed by race hustler Charles Murray some months ago. The Great Thinker was positively beside himself that Asians weren’t voting with Romney’s “greed and bleed” tautology.

Note to Jimmy: a poll question like this: ” For the population as a whole, 48 percent favored smaller government to 41 percent wanting big government.”

    …doesn’t mean anything. At all.

    1. “…doesn’t mean anything. At all.”

It sure seemed to mean something to the people who answered the question.

Saying “small government” and “big government” are trigger response statements. They mean nothing in reality.

        1. There’s a huge divergence between the way Hispanics answer and the rest of the population answer. You can’t write that off as “nothing.”

    2. The Great Thinker was positively beside himself that Asians weren’t voting with Romney’s “greed and bleed” tautology“…

Still long on whine and short on substance…

  3. “Hispanics backed higher taxes and more government by 75 percent to 19 percent. ”

“higher taxes and more government” = more government for me, higher taxes on somebody else. And now Rand wants to give this sentiment 11-30 million more votes.
Let’s all just commit suicide and be done with it.

    1. Weasel Rand Paul has just shot himself in the foot again! He would have had a better career if he had just stuck w/ the basic libertarian freedom policies but his power delusion led him to throw in with the dying Republican NeoCons! He’ll be back on the bench in KY at the next election.

  4. Nope most Latinos Ive ever known are naturally liberal socially and economically, with a few exceptions of course.

So you’re saying you don’t know any of these latinos, right?

  5. The co-sponsored Amnesty(let’s just call it what it is) bill which will be passed with the eager help of the GOP will quickly become known as the longest suicide note in history.

The GOP will not win an election for decades. America will become like California. At some point, the Democrats will have a constant super-majority and a de-facto one-party state will begin.

    1. I can add that California has already seen the above changes. The GOP can now not even use the filibuster at all.

And California is usually a preview of what’s next for the entire nation.

    2. “At some point, the Democrats will have a constant super-majority and a de-facto one-party state will begin.”

Which means all resistance to even more illegal immigration will end. The United States will be swamped with third world poverty until we reach a point where we are just another hell-hole, no point in making the effort to sneak across the border “in search of a better life.”

      1. The GOP will never win the White House back ever gain. If they do, it’d have to be with a “Democrat-lite” like Chris Christie. Time to start thinking about declaring independence. The Founding Fathers declared independence because the DEMOCRATICALLY elected parliament of Britain over-taxed them (with a tax rate of 2%). Our list of abuses (Benghazi, IRS scandal, NSA-wiretapping, Bergdahl, Fast & Furious, etc.) suffered is far longer than what the founders’ had to deal with.

Amnesty support by Republicans is pure suicide. Beyond that, it is a betrayal of the 6 million working class people whose jobs have been taken by illegal aliens, and the millions more whose wages have been depressed. Next, it is mental illness to reward mass lawbreaking with amnesty, citizenship, and the right to vote. The Democrats must be laughing their asses off at Republicans dumb enough to support amnesty, and giving Democrats another 10 million more voters than Republicans have. What we need is E-Verify, which has gigantic public support. It would open up the jobs now held by illegal aliens for American unemployed workers. E-Verify would drop the unemployment rate to below 5%. Many problems solved all at once.
