  1. I’m not sure I understand your position. The linked earlier post seemed to suggest that it would be a bad thing to not have a military ramp-up and we need to not cut spending so we can keep greater control of China, but the linked article suggests that would be a good thing to avoid a ramp-up because it would make China happy because they think an increased military ramp-up would be bad for regional peace and development.

    So what are you suggesting he should ‘revise and extend’? A confirmation that he doesn’t want a ramp-up or to recant and say we should act more to oppose China?
