December 15:
Roundtable Discussion: "What’s Left?: The German Greens and the End of Ideology." President of the Heinrich Böll Foundation, Ralf Fuecks gave an opening statement. Joshua Muravchik, resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute responded to his remarks.

December 8:
Dinner Roundtable on Turkey: The first in a series of roundtable dinners on Turkey and the region. Turkish Ambassador Baki Ilkin opened the meeting by discussing the recent earthquakes, reconstruction, and political consequences.

November 13-15:
"The Baltics, the Balkans, and Euro-Atlantic Integration" Regional roundtable conference was convened in Dresden, Germany in association with Freedom House, the Hanseatic Institute, and the U.S. Committee on NATO.

October 24-30:
NAI-GMF Balkan Delegation: In cooperation with the German Marshall Fund of the U.S., the New Atlantic Initiative organized a delegation of senior U.S. and European opinion leaders which traveled to the Balkans. The purpose of the visit was to assess regional security and economic issues and to examine the prospects for democratization in Serbia. The delegation met with senior government, military, business, and NGO leaders in Kosovo, Montenegro, and Greece. In Athens, delegates participated in a series of roundtable discussions with leading Serb oppositionists.

Luncheon Working Group: "New Atlantic Initiative Senate Working Group on Central and Eastern Europe." Under the leadership of Senators Joseph R. Biden and William V. Roth, the NAI convened its second Senate working group.

August 31:
Briefing: "Lessons of Kosovo." General Wesley Clark, Supreme Allied Commander Europe, NATO addressed the New Atlantic Initiative, held at AEI.

August 13:
Briefing: The NAI-GMF Balkan Delegation gave a briefing to members of the press on their findings from a recent fact finding mission.

August 2-8:
NAI-GMF Balkan Delegation: A group of opinion leaders traveled to Bulgaria, Macedonia, Bosnia and Romania on a fact finding mission to assess the political and economic impact of the conflict in Kosovo on the front line states.

June 22:
Dinner Roundtable: Dinner discussion with Justice Louise Arbour, Chief Prosecutor, International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, United Nations.

June 11:
Roundtable discussion: "The German Government and the Kosovo Crisis." Conversation with Christian Hacke, professor at the University of the Armed Forces, Hamburg.

June 4-6:
Regional Roundtable: "The Democratic Revolution Ten Years Later: Accomplishments and Challenges Ahead." Freedom House conference held in Budapest, Hungary which was co-organized by the New Atlantic Initiative and The German Marshall Fund of the United States.

May 19:
Breakfast roundtable: "The War in Kosovo" Breakfast with Muhamed Sacirbey, Bosnian Ambassador to the United Nations.

May 18:
Luncheon Roundtable: "After the Euro: What Next?" Luncheon with Kenneth Clarke, Member of the British Parliament and Former Chancellor of the Exchequer.

April 21:
Press briefing: "Kosovo and the Washington Summit: Does NATO Have a Future?" Press briefing with Jeffrey Gedmin, John Bolton, Jeane Kirkpatrick, Michael Ledeen, and Joshua Muravchik.

April 9-11:
Regional roundtable: "The Transatlantic Community and Post Cold War Challenges: Where Do We Disagree and Why?" Regional roundtable conference was convened in Paris in cooperation with the French think tank IFRI.

March 18:
Luncheon working group: "New Atlantic Initiative Senate Working Group on Central and Eastern Europe." Under the leadership of Senators Joseph R. Biden and William V. Roth, NAI convened its first Senate working group and discussed the upcoming NATO summit.

March 8:
Breakfast Roundtable: Discussion with Kostas Karamanlis, president of the New Democracy Party, Greece.

February 18:
Breakfast Roundtable: Discussion with chief economic adviser to the Prime Minister of Hungary, Peter Bod.

February 11:

Luncheon Roundtable: Luncheon with members of the German Social Democratic Party from the Foreign Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag.

January 28:
Luncheon Roundtable: Conversation with Algirdas Saudargas, foreign minister of Lithuania.

January 21:
Luncheon Roundtable: Conversation with Martin Palouš, deputy foreign minister of the Czech Republic on human rights and security in central and eastern Europe.
