The New Atlantic Initiative, in association with Freedom House, the Hanseatic Institute, and the US Committee on NATO, held a conference entitled "The Baltics, the Balkans, and Euro-Atlantic Integration, " in Dresden, Germany from November 13 to 15, 1999.
Over 60 business people, scholars, journalists, and government officials from Europe and the United States attended the three-day conference held at the Kempinski Taschenbergpalais.
The conference was covered by a variety of US and European journalists, and articles about the conference appeared in the German newspapers Leipziger Volkszeitung and Dresdner Neueste Nachrichten.
The conference's sponsors included Freedom House, DaimlerChrysler, the German Marshall Fund of the US, Ronald S. Lauder, Lockheed Martin, Daniel and Louise Oliver, and URS Corporation
