NAI-GMF Delegation Travels to the Balkans

From August 2 to 8, a delegation of prominent opinion leaders organized by the New Atlantic Initiative and the German Marshal Fund of the U.S. went to the Balkans for a six-day fact-finding mission.

The purpose of the delegation's visit was to assess the political and economic effects that the conflict in Kosovo has had on the region. The delegation met with senior government, military, business, and NGO leaders in Bulgaria, Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Romania.

Upon return, the delegation held a press briefing in Washington at the German Marshall Fund on August 13, 1999.
