Radio Polonia  (Cracow, Poland)
Publications Date: August 30, 2005

A conference honouring the accomplishments of the Solidarity movement and drawing attention to lessons for democratic movements in today’s outposts of tyranny has been organized in Gdansk by the New Atlantic Initiative, an international organization working to broaden the community of democratic states. Former Polish deputy foreign minister Radek Sikorski is its chairman.

The participants – Polish former dissidents as well as representatives of NGOs and government organizations, are discussing Solidarity’s experience and how it can be applied to nascent democratic movements and the world today.
