Can we please have some semblance of a rule of law?

The Democrats who form the D.C. City Council have listened to their union overlords, pleased those left-wing extremists who prefer that poor people remain poor lest their agenda become superfluous, and put down the crack pipe for a few minutes to make everyone worse off. Last night, they approved a bill imposing a higher minimum wage on Wal-Mart. It’s dressed up in more generic terms, but applies only to new store locations of more than 75,000 square feet operated by a company of $1 billion or more and is, in effect, a vicious attack on Wal-Mart and Wal-Mart alone. Now, we learned earlier this year that the forces of progressivism find it utterly appropriate to use the Internal Revenue Service to swing elections, but at least that happened in secret. The fact that this kind of targeting of specific citizens and the organizations they form and build is now happening openly is disconcerting and frightening.

Stan, have you ever worked a single day in your life? I mean, not in your academia ivory tower, but in the real-world job market?
