The COVID-19 pandemic has dealt a particularly harsh blow to the emerging-market economies and their public finances. These economies will now need to weather the prospective tightening of Federal Reserve monetary policy and slowdown in Chinese economic growth amid a glut of public and private debt and the slow pace of vaccination in many regions worldwide.

This event will consider the emerging markets’ economic outlook and their ability to cope with their large debt buildup. It will also examine the implications of their economic outlook for the rest of the world economy.
