2016 Data Point: Jeb Bush’s problem

The late October/early November McClatchy/Marist poll produced this dismal result for Jeb Bush. In the poll, Bush was viewed more negatively on this question than any of the other five GOP candidates the pollsters examined (Carson, Rubio, Cruz, Fiorina, and Trump). Barely a third said the more they heard about him the more they liked him. In the poll, Marco Rubio’s marks were 58 percent positive, 27 percent negative. The responses for Ted Cruz were 51-31 and for Ben Carson, they were 67-20. Forty-six percent said the more they heard about Fiorina the more they liked her, while 34 percent gave the opposite response. The only other GOP candidate whose marks were more negative than positive was Donald Trump: 44 percent said the more they heard about him the more they liked him, but 49 percent disagreed.
