Tunku Varadarajan @tunkuv

Tunku Varadarajan is a nonresident fellow at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), where he focuses on American politics, political economy, political ideologies, society and culture, immigration and integration, and the US Constitution. Concurrently, he is a fellow at the Classical Liberal Institute at New York University School of Law, an editorial page (and books section) contributing writer at The Wall Street Journal, a fellow at the Center on Capitalism and Society at Columbia University, and a contributing editor for Politico Europe.

Before joining AEI, Mr. Varadarajan was the executive editor at the Hoover Institution and editor of Defining Ideas, Hoover’s in-house publication. A practicing journalist since 1992, Mr. Varadarajan has edited and written for The Wall Street Journal, The Daily Beast, Newsweek, Forbes, Financial Times, and The Times of London, among others. He has also taught at various universities including Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, New York University’s journalism school and Stern School of Business, and the University of Oxford.

He has an MA and a BA in jurisprudence (law) from the University of Oxford.

Born in India, and educated in England, Mr. Varadarajan is fluent in English, Spanish, and Hindi.
